Maison À Vaison is very much a village house that truly has the best of both worlds, as it sits right at the edge of the "modern" part of town, and is steps away from the beginning of "old town." The sweeping views from the balcony of the "haut-ville" and the convenience of having all of the commerce right outside of your door of the "lower" part of town will leave you feeling like you are in the middle of a storybook village, with all of the amenities.
Information About the Home....
The home has three levels to it. The first level, accessed via the riverside entrance, has a small cave/workroom and a flight of stairs leading up to a small storage area for the home. There are stairs that lead from the storage area to the second level.
On the second level, you will find the main entrance leading to a living room with a large flat-screen TV, a small reading nook filled with books in both French and English and balcony access. The dining room has a large, teak dining table that fits 6 comfortably and French doors that open to access the balcony. Off the dining room is a fully equip kitchen and half bathroom. The couch in the living room pulls out to become a bed, giving you an additional sleeping space if guests come to visit. This level also includes air conditioning.
Up another flight of stairs, you will find an entertainment area, perfect for lounging, reading or playing games. The area also doubles as an additional bed for guests, as the banquette can be used to sleep and the privacy screen easily slipped into place. On this level, you also have the master and guest bedrooms and a newly remodeled full bathroom with walk-in shower, tub and full laundry (washer and dryer). This level also includes air conditioning. All linens are included in the rental (bedding, towels, washcloths ect.)
The home is around 1,200 square feet. While the space can fit up to four adults with space for guests, it is most comfortable with four people maximum. It has 2 full bedrooms, both with queen beds. Two additional beds are available for guests, one in the living room on the pull out couch and the other in the entertainment area on the day bed. The kitchen is equipped with an electric stove and oven, a dishwasher and a fridge and freezer combo. A microwave is also available for use. The kitchen is also fully stocked. As I spend most of my time in the kitchen and love to cook, bake and host, the kitchen is ready for entertaining with all dishes, drinkware, cookware, crockery, utensils, and kitchen tools one would need to explore the local flavors of the market stalls.
Parking: There are two parking lots within a 3 minute walk from the home. One is a paid lot and one is free.
